• About Gitarrissima

This internationally sought-after ensemble, which has become incomparable, has been in different line-ups since 2001. Even though the idea of presenting music of all genres on five guitars (one octave guitar, three concert guitars, one acoustic bass guitar) was initially perceived in a sceptical manner due to its unusual nature, the five musicians quickly taught the sceptics a lesson. Already back in 2002, Gitarrissima was a prize-winner at the International Guitar Competition Open Springs in Osnabrück (Germany).

With lively and bold arrangements of music, which were originally not composed for guitars, the ensemble moved into the first league on Europe's concert stages in the shortest period of time. After winning a 3rd prize and the Audience Award 2014 at the International Competition for Chamber Music with Guitars in Aschaffenburg (Germany), the "Gitarrissima" brand now stands for highest virtuosity, captivating charm, as well as surprising and astonishing musical interpretations. This multi-cultural ensemble always delights its audience, no matter their age, and provokes a storm of enthusiasm.

Today, the ensemble's musical repertoire comprises not only arrangements of well-known stage- and orchestral works from the "classical" music collection, but also arrangements of compositions from jazz and pop, as well as music from exotic ethnic groups. If one would summarise "Gitarrissima’s" unique sound into keywords, the following would be true: orchestral, finely nuanced, refreshing, radically rhythmic, balanced, unique ........ Simply "GITARRISSIMA"
